When there came the proposal to go following event, in Valencia, I could not say that not. In what was it consisting of event? In joining bloggeros of the whole Spain (some of them come with his cars in Valencia but others take trains or even planes), to know a little the city and in many cases to become expensive, because although Internet is a fantastic way to have the possibility of being known and of sharing this experience face to face is even better.

The day I have started with a visit on foot guided of the historical center of Valencia. On the Central Market a citrus fruits tasting was realized (Clementine, Clemenules, Navel, lemon Primofiori and Grapefruit, etc.) and to eat a Show cooking and I have lunch in Food and Fun, a new concept of restaurant and kitchen school along with the square of the Town hall.

Here it is where I joined the group. The plate that they were going to do to us was a paella what I do not get enthusiastic very much because as Valencian I usually do paellas and they must not be badly because my friends usually leave that it is me who is the one that cooks. But I had the first pleasant surprise of the day. In addition to knowing the suitable ingredients, the secret of the paella consists in being right with the quantity of broth, rice and playing with the fire so that the rice stays in his point. In the school they allowed us to prepare it to fry the meat, the vegetables … but when the complicated part came, the cooks of the school discreetly replaced us, for what instead of being dependent on the paella we could converse simply between us and do a small lunch with esgarraet. This way they obtain the educational part of the school and a good final score, with what the duality school - restaurant is reached with enough success. We all did paellas but as he corroborates Rafa Osuna in his blog our paella was with difference the best (Rafa Osuna, Munyoki, his wife and I).

Later there came the second agreeable surprise of the day, we went to visit the City of the Arts and the Sciences, in particular the Oceanográfico of Valencia and the pleasant surprise was that instead of doing the normal visit, we did a technical visit, an innovation that they have included in the catalog of the Oceanogràfic.

Technical visit to the Museum Oceanográfico of Valencia: It consisted of knowing the back room of the Oceanográfic. We enter the part of maintenance, we saw as they take care to the animals, the water filters across sand and ozone, the vats of transport of the fish and mammals, the area of quarantine, where they have the animal newly arrived persons or that it falls ill. The veterinary area where we could see even the radiography of a penguin and could walk over the swimming pool of 7 million liters of water where the only thing that bull was separating us from the sharks a small footbridge was and what in that memento it was looking like a minuscule rail.

The company was also fantastic, in addition to the experts paelleros already said (Rafa Osuna, Annoyed and Xavier Muñoz Munyoki, accompanied us Joan Carballo of blog.engeneral.net, Miguel Nonay Asaltodemata.com Eugenia Castroseiros Recorrerelmundo.com Robert and Jumi paelladekimchi.com

I want to be useful to be grateful to Nomaders and to Tourism for Valencia the initiative: Laura Farinelli and Alfredo Rivela of nomaders.com/blog and Amaya Raez turisvalencia.es

But with this I do not say goodbye, because Jose Ferri, valenciaguias.com our guide put a video to us in youtube that I have found and want to share. The zebra is one of the animals most typical of Africa, she stands out for his for his streaky hair. In the exterior rim of the Reservation of Moremi we saw a spectacular zebras struggle, two males fighting for the supremacy. When we decide to sleep in the exterior rim of the park of Moremi we think that we would have to wait on the following day to be able to see something interesting but a few hours later we discover pleasantly our error. The rim of the reservation (Moremi Game Reserve) is a human delimitation, but the animals are equally to one and another shore of the river Kwai in the delta of the Okawango. The day in the exterior rim we saw finally lions, zebras, hippopotami, elephants, antelopes of diverse classes, eagles and I am going to stop for not doing the eternal post.

Behavior: The zebras move in familiar groups of between 4 and 6 animals formed by a stud, mares and his colts. Although it is common to observe major groups only they remain together in short periods of time and the households preserve his integrity. The males who fight against more force to preserve or to win it obtains more females. The studs that do not possess matching units join in groups of bachelors or walk alone. They are mixed usually with other groups of species, like the gnu, the topi and the gazelles. There are sedentary groups and others realize seasonal migrations. In Botswana it is common to see migrations of big groups.

The zebras that we could see in the delta of the okawango, in the route there laughed lost sound zebras of burchel. The burchel zebra has a length of between 2.3 and 3 meters, a 43-56 cm tail, a height in the 1.3 meters cross and a weight between 290 and 300 kg.

Distribution: The zebra is the most widespread and abundant équido of all those who live in Africa. 5 recognized subspecies exists, although we have found some sources who affirm that there are 7. They are distributed extensively by the East and and south of Africa, with concentrations that overcome the half million and centred in Kenya and Tanzania. The preserves of fighter and the preserves deprived of Namibia, Zimbabwe and South Africa also assemble important number. For subspecies Grant's zebra appears by any East of Africa and the peninsula of Somalia, that of the top Zambeze in Zaire, Angola and the west of Zambia; the Crwhayi zebra appears in the north of Mozambique, Malawi and the East of Zambia, the Chapman zebra in the south of Mozambique and that of Damara in Namibia and Sudáfirca.

The entire population is about 700.000 copies although it is diminishing for the hunting both for his meat and for his attractive skin. They live in the arboreal and herbaceous savanna from the sea level up to 4.000 meters of altitude. His major predators are the lions, the hyenas and the wild dogs.

Zebra or Zebra? As to the Spanish Royal Academy the zebra is an animal solípedo of the southern Africa, seemed to the donkey, of yellowish white hair, with brown or black transverse lists. There are several species, and some of the size of the horse. The noun zebra also is correct but it is in desuetude. Nevertheless in the searches in Spain of last 12 months the word zebra to overcome zebra. So the decision stays to taste of the consumer.

Wikipedia curiosity: The word “zebra“ does not represent a reality from the evolutionary point of view, but it groups artificially three species according to a character (the streaky overcoat) that is not derived, but primitive. The streaks appear also in major or minor measurement in the paws and loin of the donkeys and wild horses, and they are evident more hard in the hybrids like the mules, although between the ancestors there should be no zebra of for way, demonstrating that the presence of streaks is an ancient character inside the genre Equus (zebras, horses and donkeys) and not one proper derivative of a sub-group inside this one.

   Recommended linkage:

Extreme white-water rafting between Zambia and Zimbawe (The video is spectacular although of having known that the white-water rafting was so a beast we would not have done it)

   Zebra, wikipedia

Delta of the Okawango, recorrerelelmundo.es

Delta of the Okawango, the river that does not come to the sea. viajeaafrica.com

Photos I Go on from Zebra in Pompeii, pasaporteblog.com
    23-Ene-2010 It Leaves a comment»

Alepo (Aleppo) the most ancient city of the world, Syria

Alepo (Aleppo), in Arab Halab or in Turk Halep is the second city of Syria after Damascus and according to some sources the most ancient city of the world inhabited permanently. It is a city of Syrian tourism and Moslem tourism, but as it happens in general in Syria it is still beginning being opened for the western tourism. It is in the north of Syria, to half I walk in the highway that joins the Euphrat with the Mediterranean Sea.

Perhaps it is not the most ancient city of the world, although his inhabitants like that affirm it. What is sure that it is a question of the cities permanently inhabited more ancient than the world and for it it is no wonder that his streets, zocos and monuments breathe history for every pore.

The first historical reference that has of Alepo byline of 1.780 B.C. capital of the kingdom of Yamhad, a confederacy of cities and villages joined by the common interests tied to the control of the commercial routes between the peninsula of Anatolia, Mesopotamia and the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. Later it came across of the Hititas, about 1.600 B.C., after the Hurritas, the Egyptians and once again of the Hititas. Invasions that Byzantine and Moslem ones continued for the Macedonians, Roman, between others.

At the end of the post I leave a pair of linkage to you on the history of Aleppo and his conquerors, because it might spend pages and pages to me explaining it. Not in vain there is the most ancient inhabited city of the world or less of Occident. What is sure is that if the ancient city of Palmira is the most outstanding archaeological part of Syria, Alepo is undoubtedly the city to know the current form of life in Syria, it is also the most industrialized city of the country.

One of the things that attracted attention of us is the quantity of Syrian tourists and in general of the Moslem world that we could see for the city, in contrast with the western few ones. You can see in the photo that was not rare to see women with burka doing tourism and photos with the mobile in the interest points like the Citadel.

In the following photo you can see one of the numerous zocos of the Medina. In the center of the city there is a labyrinthine complex of zocos silverware that are one of the big tourist attractions of the city of Alepo. From our trips blog we recommend these zocos to do the buys, since they are much better and more authentic than those of Damascus.

Since we have commented on Alepo it is the most industrialized city of Syria and when we see it from above there does not stop being curious the miscellany of minarets and of satellite dishes that pack the roofs and roofs of the city.

Photo of the satellite dishes in the roofs of the city of Alepo, Arab Republic of Syria.

The Big Mosque of Aleppo was erected in 1214 and one of his characteristics it is his square minaret, which we can see in the following photo. It is possible to begin to visit and to photograph, but it is necessary to remember that the man they must take long pants and the women will have to go covered and with veil. Nevertheless in the different earnings of the big mosque it is possible to take given veils to be adapted to the clothing. Since we always recommend the maximum respect for the persons who realize the cult in the mosque.

The citizens of Syria. In our trip to Syria and Jordan we could notice an important difference and we must emphasize it kind that were the Syrians with us. It is necessary to remember that his customs and beliefs are different from our own ones and be shared or it is not necessary to respect them. But in general the Syrians accept the differences and when you comment on some "incorrectness" indicate it to you with a smile.

In the top photo we can see a loom een the Zoco of the Craftsmen of Alepo, and next we can see a video of the loom in functioning.

The City Antigua of Alepo was declared a Patrimony of the Humanity by the UNESCO in 1986. This court is the most ancient current juridical institution of Europe, and probably also the most ancient of the world.

The court of the waters has competitions on the conflicts that arise concerning the use of the waters for the irrigation, realizes oral, public judgment, passes immediate judgment and it is not appealable.

In honor he constructed the Court of the Waters the Source of the Court of the Waters. The source has oval form in whose center appears a man's figure semirrecostado that it represents to the river Turia. The bearded man is surrounded with pedestals in which eight girls or naked adolescents appear with the ornamental comb and hairstyle of Valencian cultivator, each of them with a pitcher from which there comes the water, and that in turn eight ditches of the Turia represent.

The ditches belong to Benager i Faitanar, to Rovella, to Favara, to Quart, to Tormos, sde Rascanya, of Mislata, and to Mestalla. The source is a work of sculptor Manuel Silvestre Montesinos “Silvestre de Edeta“, realized the figures in bronze while the rest is of stone. It was inaugurated in 1976. In the top photo we can see the water drops in the source of the Court of the Waters.

The source of the Court of the Waters is placed in the center of the Square of the Virgin and surrounded by some of the monuments most emphasized from the city like the Palace of the Valencian Generality, the Basilica of the Virgin of the Helpless ones and the Cathedral of Valencia. In the Square of the Virgin or Plaça de la Mare of Deu, in flaws, of every year realizes the traditional flowers gift.

   References

   Valencian culture

   Sources of Valencia

Gift of Flowers, Norms and recommendations.

Calendar of the gift of flowers 2010

   What to see in Valencia?

The nit of the foc, pasaporteblog.com

Oceanográfico of Valencia, pasaporteblog.com
    7-Feb-2010 It Leaves a comment»

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://dtripsblogy.blogspot.com/2010/03/square-of-virgin-valencia-water-drops.html' title='The square of the Virgin, Valencia. When we think about the hotel of of to movie of Pretty Woman to all there comes to us the Hotel Beverly Wilshire Beverly Hills (9500 Wilshire Boulevard, Beverly Hills, California), the fantastic hotel placed at the beginning of Detour Drive in Los Angeles. But also we can sleep in the apartment that Julia Robers was sharing in the movie.

In our trip for the coast west we discover that there everything is decorated and atrezo. With a little of organization and information we also can be part of the movies and with a very cheap price. How? The hotel that was simulating the apartment of Pretty Woman has a much more accessible price in which if we will be able to sleep it is which be our budget. The hotel is Las Palmas Hotel, 1738 Las Palmas Avenue, Hollywood, Los Angeles.

Do you remember the end of Pretty Woman? When Richard Gere goes so far as like prince in his white horse (limousine) sword in hand (umbrella) to rescue his princess of the tower of the castle (balcony of the apartment). Since this balcony is not different that the hotel Las Palmas, placed to a few meters of Hollywood Boulevard, the street of the stars of Hollywood. In these photos you can see the hotel.

The small photo of the Hotel Las Palmas is not of pasaporteblog.com, it is an apprehension of screen of Google Street View, here I leave the linkage to you so that you could place the Hotel.

It is very curious to see like this detached house that in the movie is supposed is in a marginal area of Los Angeles is placed really to few meters of the walk of the stars. The truth in the studies of Hollywood they are not complicated very much looking for locations. To a few apples of Hollywood Boulevard we can go on from the apartment of Pretty Woman to the training camp of the institute where John Travolta tries to do the tests of athletics of Greese or to the beaches of Observers of the Beach to a few kilometers.

Here I leave a linkage to you (in English) of a web that shows others l ocalizaciones of the movie Pretty Woman, it is quite interesting.

Curiosity: The scene of the movie in which Richard Gere delivers to Julia Robers a box with a necklace so that it shows it in the dinner of this night, and Richard closes it suddenly and Julia begins laughing it was not in the script. This scene was an improvisation of actor that the director liked and stopped in the movie.

Details of the hotels and more things to be seen in the trip for the Coast West of the United States:

We can try to do a reservation in the Hotel of Pretty Woman of Detour Drive. When we do the reservations with advance sometimes we surprise the hotels and they are not so expensive as we could wait. Anyway I would not have confidence in it great, but for trying it …

Four Seasons Hotel Beverly Wilshire Beverly Hills

Hotel Beverly Wilshire Beverly Hills,

9500 Wilshire Boulevard, Beverly Hills,

California, U.S.A., 90212,

Tel.1 (310) 275-5200

   http://www.fourseasons.com/beverlywilshire/

   Las Palmas Hotel

1738 Las Palmas Avenue, Hollywood, Los Angeles

I am afraid that I have not found web official of the hotel, so you will have to use any hotels searcher to do the reservation. I have proved even with the semantic searcher hakia but I have not found it.

Two songs of Pretty Woman that have gone down in history:

Oh, Pretty Woman – Roy Orbison (1964)

It Must Have Been Love, Roxette

We can see in Google maps the Hotel Las Palmas and you will see it incredibly close that is of Kodak Theatry, where the delivery of the Oscars is realized.

   To see bigger map

California and coast west the United States:

Travel Coast West in our trips blog

San Francisco, California
Las Vegas, city of the game
Road trip, rent of car, advices for cars rent in the United States
Santa Monica and Venice Beach, the beaches of Los Angeles
Death Valley, desert of Nevada
Giant Sequoias in the big parks.
Yosemite National Park
Statue of the Freedom, New York

What to see in San Francisco? The Garden of You Japanese and The house of Necessary Parents San Francisco
    14-Feb-2010 It Leaves a comment»

Hotels in Alepo, Syria

Hotels in Aleppo. On having prepared the article about the city of Alepo, Syria I have found enough information that I gathered about different hotels and have thought that it would be interesting to share it. The hotels in Alepo, and in general in all our trip for Syria and Jordan they are not of the same quality that in Spain, but I have to affirm that the hotels of Spain each one in his category perform the best of Europe. But let's not change topic. Let's go to the Alepo hotels

These hotels I do not say not that they are neither the only ones or them the best, but I saw them personally and I can leave the reference to you. Here I leave an advices linkage to you on as looking for hotels at good price that I wrote a few years ago but it is still entirely current.

Hotel Dedeman Aleppo * * * * * East is seemingly the best hotel of the city, till not long ago it belonged to the chain Cham Hotels, but now it has been bought and reformed by the Turkish chain Dedeman.

Opinion: The conference of the hotels are very good, since it is one of the highest buildings of the city and the hotel when we were was slightly old, but the works of rehabilitation had already begun. In the photo you can see it. In the current web of the hotel it seems that they have already ended, since the swimming pool is already seen in functioning. This is a photo of as they were rehabilitating the swimming pool. It is placed in the center, but it did not find it hard to us anything to call to a taxi so that he us was sick to Dedeman Aleppo.

Louai Kayali Street P.O Box:992
Aleppo-Syria

Tel: +963 021 2270 100
Fax: +963 021 2270 140
E-mail: aleppo@dedeman.com

   Web official Dedeman Aleppo

Photo of the conference from the hotel:

   Jdayde Hotel

Opinion: this is the hotel in which I would have remained of having known it, it had delight great and it is placed in the center. It is also a small hotel. The travel agencies usually do not offer these hotels because they have few rooms and do not allow to manage big groups. But if you go for your account to Alepo I believe that it can be a good hotel to finish the trip.

   Jdayde Hotel

   Jdayde Hotel, Aleppo, Syria
Jdayde Area to Hatab Square
Tel. +963 21 21 21197 / 98
Mobile: +963 93 3020001
www.jdaydehotel.com
info@jdaydehotel.com

   Yasmeen d'Alep Hotel
www.yasmeenalep.com
To. Kayyali Street – Jdayde
It has parking lot, SPA, (I bathe turo, Jacuzzi, etc.), Business Center. It was looking spectacular and I suppose that the price accompanies. The prices in Syria are all forms quite low, so I also would try to ask for price. This would be the hotel that it would select to recommend in a trip of high budget.

So much be like the previous one they are in the old town of the city and this is always an advantage.

And of gift a restaurant that I liked very much in Alepo:
My advices as for restaurants are going to be limited because only I remained with the card of one of them, Sisi House, although it is considered to be one of the best hotels of the city. We were not disappointed with the meal and the price was fantastic compared with the prices of any restaurant normalito of Valencia.
Sissi House
Aleppo, Syria
Tel +963 21 3007
Mobile: + 963 933 500505
info@sissihouse.com
www.sissihouse.com

   Related articles:

What to see in a trip to Syria?

City of Alepo, Syria

The putting sun in Palmeria, spectacular photos.

Petra's city, Jordan

Jordan Blog of trips.

Jerash, Gerasa the ancient blunt one in Jordan

The Weather vane: mosque or Cathedral?
    21-Feb-2010 It Leaves a comment»

Photographed secret installation of the CIA in Alice Springs, Australia

Planning the trip to Australia diving for the network I found information that seemed to indicate that that very close to Alice Spring there was a secret center of the CIA. A center of secret high place of pursuit of satellites, it had no assertion but he was worth looking for it and trying to photograph it. So when we detach of the airport of Alice Spring it was much I abide with the camera and I found it and here the photos are exclusive.

The exclusive photos of one of the biggest centers of spying of the United States, perhaps the biggest in the whole south hemisphere.

The name of these secret facilities is Pine Gap (Satellite Tracking Station), it is placed to approximately 18 kilometers of the city of Alice Spring, to the west of the airport of Alice Springs (Code IATA ASP). It is produced jointly by the United States and Australia. It is a question of an immense complex with more than 1.000 workers and 8 big antennas domes, which official name is Joint Defence Space Research Facility. Seemingly it is one of the biggest complexes in ground of the American network of spying Echelon.

In the top photo you can see in the same image the airport of Alice Springs (ASP) and the secret center to the fund, and here below the same distance but in Google Maps.

This secret station controls a network of satellites that intercepts called phone companhies, radio, linkage of information and another type of communications along the whole balloon, in some sources they consider it that the AREA 51 of Australia.Esta is the most next picture that I could take from the plane (I believe that it belonged to QuantasLink)

And here we have it from Google Earth

Otherwise Alice Springs is a city of step forced to know Uluru (Ayers Rock), but the city does not have anything interesting and nothing is in half of. Here you have more photos of the immense Australian desert.

Four or five hours of flight in which, on having appeared only, we saw desert and more desert. Australia is immense but especially it is a big desert. Less evil that the Americans left to us the opportunity to play at being James Bond and doing counterespionage …

Hence we irritate Darwin, to penetrate into the wetlands of famous Cocodrilo Dundee, but this is another history for another day.

   Linkage:

Australian Great Barrier Reef

It operates of Sidney, travel Australia

What is the code IATA of an Airport?

A carnguro in the Territories of the North, travels round Autralia
    28-Feb-2010 It Leaves a comment»

The putting sun in half of the Delta of the Okavango, in a mokoro.

Motorhome free in half of the Delta of the Okavango it is an incredible experience. To you allow to be in contact with the nature and to we allowed to see one of the most incredible evenings of our trip for South Africa. The special of this evening was that we saw it from a mokoro in half of the calm and transparent waters of the delta of the Okavango in Botswana.

The mokoro (mocoro or makoro canoes) is a canoe or canoe that originally was done of ebony wood, although at present they are of fiberglass. Normally it is led by a guide (poler) that he leads them with a jumping pole. It has also capacity for two passengers and the support material for the night in the camp. In our case we were sitting down on the mats that then served to us to sleep. Advice: if you have the opportunity to choose it is important that the poler speaks at least a little about English and that it is young and with desire of communicating. Our experience with these people was frankly very good, in the night along with the fire they were counting histories and sharing the dinner with us in an island in the delta of the Okawango.

How do we come? We go out in plane from the Airport of Maum, to go to the airport or better described the Sepupa landing strip. From there in truck up to coming to the shores of the river to take the mokoro. I have no words to describe what means to fly over the biggest interior delta of the planet, but the few ones that I could already find were used by me in the article to Fly over the Delta of the Okavango

The impressive thing of the mokoro there is the calmness that is breathed and the silence that allows to approach and see wild animals, we saw hippopotami, elephants, eagles … but the best of this day was the putting sun. Since we were going to sleep in an island in tents in half of the river, we did not need to return promptly to continue the route for the lost river, so we could remain up to seeing the putting sun. Instead of describing it I leave to you some photos that they speak for themselves.

Photo: I walk in mokoro in the Delta of the Okawango in Botswana.

I bathe in the river. The waters are crystalline and in the places with current it seems that it is not dangerous to bathe, whenever the guides or polers they authorize it. I do not bathe for the possibility of taking coccidios (a local parasite). They are usually in stagnant waters, and principally in the river Zambece. Some friend if that I bathe and if it was returning I would bathe, because I did not do it there for precaution but one week later doing extreme white-water rafting in the river Zambeze I overturned in more than 14 occasions, and I believe that I swallowed so much water that I contributed to the drying of the delta (Videos of our extreme white-water rafting in the Rio Zambeze).

In our trips blog normally we do not put the exact location, but in Africa of South we had to take GPS for precaution so we can geoposicionar these photos with enough accuracy. You can see that we were in the point in which the delta begins expanding.
